A multiple-collection NFT project in which each collection is a pun and follows the main character on a journey.
Sounds simple enough but, what type of NFT project would it be? There are tons of different NFT project types and no “right way” or “wrong way” to do it:
- Art Only? Great!
- Social Media Profile Picture? Classic.
- Metaverse Utility? See you on the otherside. (pun intended)
- Staking Centered? I’ll take my tokens medium-rare.
- Gaming? Just make it fun.
- NFT Merch? Be that guy/girl.
All are valid project options. However, “value” is a term that people use a lot in the NFT space. What exactly is value? To a thirsty person, water is valuable. To a busy person, time is valuable. The higher the necessity, the higher the value.
So what “value” will we bring to the NFT space?
We know the phrase, “if you give a man a fish he eats for a day, if you teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime.” Well, value to us is giving people the tools they need to eat for a lifetime.
We will build a community of like-minded individuals who want to learn, grow, and build something for the long run.
We will create systems for holders to benefit from, simply by being holders. Access to useful courses, work opportunities, and community support are just some of the goals we have in mind in terms of providing value.
Why launch on Solana when royalties are not enforced anymore?
Solana Overall
Technology wise, we believe Solana is the best-suited blockchain for mass adoption with it’s high transactions per second (+2,000 TPS, compared to Cardano’s 250 TPS and Ethereum’s 15 TPS) and it’s most popular wallet, Phantom, has great UI on mobile and desktop. Convenience is key to innovation.
But, the main reason we chose to launch on Solana is much simpler than that: Solana has our favorite people.
Solana NFT communities are truly welcoming and live up to the NFT “degen” stereotype. This is perfect for our project storyline and the collections we have in mind. Solana also has some of the most innovative builders in the NFT space and it would be an honor for us to build alongside them.
Royalties
As for royalties, we support royalties for artists 100% and always will. For our project though, royalties are counterintuitive to our goal of building a strong community.
A community consists of consistent holders, so shouldn’t our goal be to bring in people who want to hold our NFTs long-term and not buy-in with the sole intent of re-selling for a profit?
Those who want to buy with intent to flip can do as they please, but the project will be focused on those who are here to hold and join the community long-term.
This being said, we will not depend on royalties as a means of income and will continue to build for the community.
What will we do with the mint funds?
This question is commonly asked to new NFT project founders and I’ve always found it quite interesting.
Is an NFT project a Kickstarter? The mindset of “raising funds” to provide something of value later on is not a mindset we align with.
Our mint price is determined by how we value the collection’s NFTs, not to raise funds for something we’ll provide later.
Still, fund allocations will be publicly displayed on Twitter for each collection.
What’s the CheeseComputer Roadmap?
Another buzzword used often is the NFT space is “roadmap.” It sounds great and makes sense for people to want to know what the project they’re buying into has planned for the future.
Unfortunately, most project roadmaps are often delayed or overpromise rewards they can’t deliver. This usually stems from being too detailed from the start and leaving people with unrealistic expectations.
To avoid this, we’ve made the roadmap more of an overview:
- Phase 1: “Shredded Cheese,” Polygon collection that grants holders lifetime discounts on CheeseComputer mugs (currently on Etsy).
- Phase 2: “Sliced Cheese,” Website launch, storyline begins, and 8 Solana collections with various utilities.
- Phase 3: “Block Cheese,” One last collection with a real world use leading into the transformation of CheeseComputer.
The phases are chronological, not too detailed, and give people an overview of what’s to come. The CheeseComputer project as we’re discussing here starts from Phase 2: Sliced Cheese.
Team
Though the project will be told from the perspective of the main character, Cheese the mouse, it’s important for people to know the ones really behind the scenes.
Eventually I do plan to dox but, for now we’re just providing an overview of who we are.
Fish — This is my close friend of over 8 years, we met through Muay Thai. He’s a full stack web developer and works in tech in San Francisco. He builds and maintains the website.
Dedebrux — This is our lead artist. I’ve worked with him for the last 3 years since CheeseComputer was solely an online retail store. He does the final drawings for all designs.
Roberto — This is our advisor and lead Solana developer. Roberto has his own company that assists projects with building on Solana and has advised several other NFT projects.
Ned — “The man behind the mouse,” this is me. I founded CheeseComputer years ago and have been growing the brand ever since. I am a current Electrical Engineering/Computer Science major (returning student after 7 years), novice Solana developer, and the sketch artist for all designs.
We have plans to grow the team with new community members and will continue to remain transparent about the team members’ roles.
Looking Ahead
Though cryptocurrency prices are currently at a year-to-date low, we still plan to launch within next couple weeks.
The bear market is the time to build, learn, and grow a community. Now’s the time to set our foundation and plan for what’s to come.
Thank you for reading, we appreciate your support and will post Cheese’s backstory next.
